Would your family benefit from working with a child psychologist? Can you actually find an experienced teen therapist near Littleton and Highlands Ranch? My name is Dr. Steven Lazarus, and I have more than 25 years of experience working with children and their parents on issues ranging from behavioral issues, to ADHD and other school problems to helping children build confidence and self esteem.
As a child psychologist, I use a collaborative approach. Naturally, I involve you, the parent or guardian. But with your guidance and permission, I also speak to physicians, teachers and the other important adults in your child’s life. I communicate with anyone who can give me insight. Then I work with you to develop effective intervention techniques. We incorporate your parenting style, and what I‘ve seen succeed in my years of practice. I know that every family is unique. Which is why I customize my approach to address the unique needs of your child and your family.
Dr Lazarus, How I work with Parents and Families
A Collaborative Approach
Play therapy incorporates a child’s natural means of expression — play — to help cope with emotional stress or trauma. Many psychologists combine play therapy and parent consultation when working with young children. For children nine years and younger, play therapy has been shown to be an effective and appropriate method. I welcome parents to remain in the room if they choose, or if this would make the child more comfortable.
Dr. Lazarus specializes in children 7 years of age and older with their parents.
Dr. Gauthier specializes in children as young as 2 years of age with their parents.
